A Walk for a Healthy you

Hello Fellow Yellians and Friends of Yelle,

Yet again last week the students and staff at Yelle showed how wonderful they are and what a great community they have built. Last Tuesday the entire school and Mr. Williams a former New England Patriot walked around the track of the high school for about 45 minutes. The weather could not have been better and the energy level of everyone was intense. This was the kick off to Play 60, a program that promotes healthy lifestyles for all. The program challenges students to get up and out and play or be physical for 60 minutes a day. A special thank you goes out to several people who helped us succeed in our goal to begin to live a healthy lifestyle. Mr. Williams was very kind to come to our school and give us encouragement, Karen Duross Rogers, our school nurse organized the walk, Dr. Ansay walked with us and was our own personal cheerleader throughout the morning, Mr. Dewar was gracious enough to let all 490 of us invade his track for most of the morning and especially Mr. V the Health Teacher at Norton High School, he inspired and challenged us to do our own Personal Best.

Please check in with us next week as we follow the steps of our Literacy Coach, Sharon Roberts as she visits classrooms and works her magic with our students. Have a great week.

November Breezes In

Hello Yellians and Friends of Yelle,

We had a very busy and exciting week last week. On Thursday the Helping Hands students stayed after school and helped Miss George, Miss Albert and myself assemble over 700 Boo Bags. The students did a remarkable job working together. On Thursday The Yelle Family came to visit and we got to meet young Henri Yelle. He was very excited to see his grandfather's school and listen to his mother as she shared her memories about her dad, when he was principal of the Yelle. It was a great honor to have Mrs. Yelle visit, she said that the students were wonderful and the school has a nice homey feeling, she added that her husband would be proud of everyone. Dr. Ansay was included in on many of our activities last week, she purchased and received Boo Bags, she met with the Yelles and she was able to see the wonderful costumes that our staff and students wore on Friday. Our S.M.I.L.E.S friends were also here on Thursday working with their friends. I was very excited that the students were so wonderful on Halloween Eve - they looked great, I saw some very creative costumes and they handled themselves very maturely throughout the day.

This week we will be working on being Fit For Life. Please check in next week and see how we are doing on our Fuel Up 60 competition!

Have a Great Week!
