The Students of Yelle Shine On..

This week at Yelle we have had many exciting moments. We learned that the 2008-2009 MCAS results were released, the Henri A. Yelle community made AYP. We are very proud of all the results, and we are prepared to continue to work hard and show everyone how we can shine. This year at the Yelle there is a new slogan. We are going to be known as the Henri A. Yelle All Stars. The school is divided into 4 units and the units have been named, The Celtics Unit,The Patriots Unit,The Red Sox Unit and The Bruins Unit. Last Friday, the Celtics Unit showed the most pride and spirit - nice job!
We chose our first Star of the Week on Friday. A Star is a person who exemplifies being a good friend, kind person, and giving community member. Kerri W. from grade four is our first STAR, congratulations to Kerri. On Thursday, we had the kick-off for our biggest fund raiser, the candy drive. Good luck to all of our future sales people. Everyone wore their biggest smiles on Friday for Picture Day. Our first Site Council and PTO meetings were held on Tuesday evening. The group of volunteers that showed up was nothing less than impressive. This year our goal at Yelle is to all be STARS at everything that we do and to shine during every moment!

Best wishes for a great week!

May Days 5/10/09

Welcome to our Blogg. Last week was a very busy week for everyone at Yelle. There were 5th grade Math Clinics that happened on Friday, everyone got a bit more time to work on their math skills. It was also Teacher Appreciation Week. It is my sincere pleasure to recognize the wonderful staff we have here at Yelle. The Norton Community is very fortunate to have such hard working, dedicated and caring professionals working with their children. Thank you for all that you do! The Yelle Site Council had a wonderful opportunity on Wednesday evening. The three elementary Councils got together at LGN to discuss homework and transition concerns. The week of May 1st we had our friend Michael Higgins, from Magic Gardens, come to Yelle to create another carving for us. Thank you to the PTO for sponsoring this program, it is one of our favorites. Our Helping Hands group has been busy cleaning up around the school. Thank have a great week and best of luck on the MCAS.

April 21, 2009

The energy that springtime brings has come to H. A. Yelle! Within the last few weeks we have had several exciting learning experiences in both 4th and 5th grade.
On Thursday, April 9th, Baker Nurseries came to Yelle to plant trees in the playground to support our efforts in sun protection.
During the week of April 13th the 5th graders went to The New Bedford Whaling Museum, after April vacation the students will engage in activities based on their visit.

Enjoy your vacation,

Lisa Farrell
